For 25 years, Barrett Earney has helped businesses across Southeastern North Carolina put technology to work. He founded Earney IT in 2001 and built it from the ground up into one of the region’s most trusted managed IT services providers. Today it delivers proactive IT management, cybersecurity, and strategic technology planning to organizations throughout the Cape Fear region.

Barrett became a Partner at Earney Accountants & Advisors in 2019. Under his leadership, Earney gives clients a combination few firms can match: a full-service CPA firm and an award-winning managed IT provider working side by side. Clients have access to financial insight and technology expertise from teams working together unde one roof.

Barrett is known as a hands-on, people-first leader. His style is enthusiastic, supportive, and grounded in accountability. He has led the adoption of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) across both organizations to sharpen focus, strengthen teams, and drive measurable results. Clients and colleagues alike value his balanced judgment, his responsiveness, and his commitment to following through.

Community & Industry Involvement

Barrett believes strong businesses build strong communities. He is a graduate of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Wilmington Class of 2024, where he chaired the class fundraising committee. He brings board experience to the organizations he serves. Within the industry, he meets weekly and monthly with several industry peer groups and vendor councils. He also contributes regularly to vendor programs and industry podcasts. He is a student of the customer experience and is always looking for new ideas to make every client interaction better.

Personal
Barrett lives in Wilmington with his wife and their golden retriever, Sunny, and is the proud father of three daughters. When he’s not working, he’s usually on the water. Boating along the Intracoastal and the Cape Fear coast is his favorite way to unwind, whether that’s an early morning run to the beach or an afternoon on the water with family and friends. He also enjoys snowboarding and travel.
